Yes that’s right folks the next club round of Cross Country racing is nearly upon us. For Round 3 we have prepared something special for you all.
The Pilot Trail has been a great addition to our Mounts Precinct and since completion in 2017 I can guess you have ridden it a few times. Maybe even a few too many times? As it is the only purpose built XC trail in Albany it took some outside of the box thinking to create a new experience for our local riders.
And so we bring you Pilot Reverse. That’s right XC diehards, for Round 3 you get to ride up The Pilot Trail. One awesome 5.8km lap of our course will give riders 180m of climbing and some sweet descents, including Granite Trail, Drain Line and Carlyles Drop. So pump up your tyres and get ready for your one off chance to ride Pilot Reverse! Yewww!

Seniors Race Briefing : 1410
Seniors Race Starts : 1415
Juniors will race a shortened course, <1km in length, taking in the lower section of the pilot trail and a mild climb.
Under 9s – 2 Laps
Under 13s – 3 Laps
Seniors will be riding a series of laps around a 5.8km course we have mapped out on existing trails on Mounts Clarence and Adelaide. The number of laps will depend on the division you are racing in, and are as follows;
Men’s ‘A’ – 5 Laps
Men’s ‘B’ – 4 Laps
Men’s ‘C’ – 3 Laps
Women’s ‘A’ – 4 Laps
Women’s ‘B’ – 3 Laps
Intro to MTB – 1 Lap
E-MTB Class – 2 Laps
Under 15s – 2 Laps
These distances are aimed at providing 1.5hrs of racing per grade.
Entry Fees are $15.
Please note if you are not a MTBA member you will need to pay insurance for the day. MTBA are still offering 2 months free membership at https://mtba.org.au/join for those who have never been an MTBA member.
Alternatively you can sign up for an annual MTBA membership – a portion of each membership fee goes to the Albany Mountain Bike Club, helping us run more events like this, and to purchase much needed equipment!
Open to anyone age 6 or over! Junior riders 15 and over should pick a grade appropriate to their skill level.
If you’re new to cycling, or a bit nervous about mountain biking, we are offering a shortened version of the race so that you can have a go ! Course will be the same, but over a reduced time frame.
