]]>The post Trail Maintenance with Albany Community Bushcarers appeared first on Albany Mountain Bike Club.
]]>The Albany Mountain Bike Club has engaged with the City of Albany Reserves team in order to develop a relationship whereby the club can assist in maintenance of the existing trail network. As we all know there are currently limited designated mountain bike trails in the region and the growth of the sport has seen an increase in use of the walk trails on the mounts. It is therefore important that we maintain and sustain what we currently use until further trail development is undertaken in the near future.
Our discussions with the COA indicate the best approach for the club to assist with trail maintenance at this present time is to join up to the Community Bushcare volunteer group. This group is supervised and mentored by the Reserves team and would allow us to identify specific areas of trails that we feel need attention. This will also allow members and enthusiasts the opportunity to learn about trail maintenance techniques that we can pass down to other members in the club.
Attached is a Volunteer Handbook, application form for MTB members to sign up to the City’s Bushcarers Group and the upcoming bushcare busy bees to June (don’t worry about the Police Clearance or Working with Children checks as they are not required for this type of volunteering).
We encourage all members to consider joining and assisting with trail maintenance on the mounts as this will assist in the long term sustainability of the mounts and mountain biking in the region.
Kind regards,
Nick Walls, President, Albany Mountain Bike Club.
